The main reason we went vegtarian was to avoid supporting cruelty to animals -- of which pig farms (which also destroy the environment) are a dreadful example. Is this bacon special because of how it's processed, or does it also come from pigs raised outdoors with some quality of life (as David's lucky porkers are)?

You don't need to live in this neighborhood to participate in our CSA. We are open to all, and have quite a few members who live elsewhere!

Hi there.
I wanted to ask. I don't live in Prospect/Lefferts Gardens, but I live in Crown Heights and there is no CSA that I know of for my neighborhood. Is there a way that I can get involved in the one in your neighborhood or must I be a member of that community?
Thanks
Mary-Jackelyn

I think someone else requested this too at the Saturday orientation meeting with David and Julia. They said the greens were not in great condition last season, which is why they cut them off, but they definitely seemed open to leaving the greens on this time if we want them. Julia also mentioned that the greens should be removed and stored separately when you get them home.

You have reminded me that I want to ask David to please give us the beet greens along with the beets this year. We'll be getting plenty of other greens, but beet greens are really good!
When I read the list, I drooled.
